You can custom design the GPA policy by choosing from any of the following add-ons illustrated below –
- Accidental Medical Expenses (AME) – Covers medical expenses incurred in the treatment of the injury caused due to an accident. Most insurers provide AME on an IPD basis, i.e. covering the cost of hospitalization only as standard cover however you can opt for OPD expenses coverage at a slightly higher premium cost as well.
- Hospital Cash – Insurer pays a fixed benefit per day of hospitalization due to an accident. The per-day limit for hospital cash ranges from INR 500 to INR 5K.
- Dependent Child Education Benefit – Lump sum benefit paid for continuing children education in case of accidental death or permanent total disability of the insured. Generally, the limit ranges from INR 10K to INR 1L payable per child, maximum for 2 children.
- Dependent Child Wedding Benefit – In case of accidental death or permanent total disability of the insured, a lump sum benefit is paid to meet the wedding expenses of dependent children. The standard limit provided under this benefit is INR 1L per child, a maximum for 2 children.
- Ambulance Charges – Covers the cost of road ambulance incurred for transportation of insured to hospital.
- Broken Bones – Insurer settles claim over and above the base sum insured of the policy in case the accident results in compound fractures up to the limit defined for broken bones benefit. For example, in case of a compound fracture of the skull causing damage to the brain tissue, the insurer may pay 100% of the limit defined for broken bones benefit.
- Burns – Insurer settles claim over and above the base sum insured of the policy in case the accident result in second or third-degree burns up to the limit defined for burns benefit. For example, in the case of third-degree burns of 20% or more of the total body surface area, the insurer may pay 100% of the limit defined for burns benefit.
- Reconstructive Surgery – In case the first surgery performed immediately after the accident does not result in the desired outcome, the insurer covers the cost of reconstructive surgery required to correct the remaining abnormalities.
- Transportation of Insured’s Relatives – Covers the cost of travel of insured’s relatives to the site of the accident in case of insured’s accidental death or permanent disability.
- Last Rites Cost – Covers expenses incurred in executing the last rites of the insured person.
- Mobility Extension – Covers expenses on a wheelchair, motor vehicle modification or installing lifts, constructing ramps, etc. inside the residential house to increase accessibility in case of permanent total disablement.
- Counselling Benefit – In case of death of insured person’s death due to an accident, the insurer compensates the costs incurred for professional counseling to the insured’s family.
- Parental Care Benefit – Insurer pays a lump sum benefit for the financial security of dependent parents in case of death of the insured person.
- Medical Insurance Premium Indemnity – In case of death of the insured person, the insurance company pays the cost of medical insurance premium for the insured’s spouse and dependent children for a definite period of time as stated in the policy schedule.
- Hostage Release Fees – In case the insured person is kidnapped, the insurer will pay the fees of a professional negotiator appointed to secure the release of the insured person. The payment is restricted to the limit under hostage release fees benefit.
