There are lots of facts and myths on ‘how to treat acne and get rid of it’ present on the internet. So, what exactly an acne is? It is basically a skin condition that occurs due to clogging of follicle of a skin gland. Excess sebum secretion by the oil glands is the primary cause behind acne. Though it is common in teenagers and young adults, it can make a person feel miserable due to their appearance.
There is lot of medicines in the market which can treat the acne or pimples which are even recommended by dermatologist. But there are also some natural methods or treatments which can help you get rid of the existing pimples and also prevent them from forming in future. In this article we are going to discuss about some of these methods.
1. Make Honey Mask:
Honey is naturally soothing, hydrating and an excellent source of anti-oxidants. Research have found applying antioxidants to the skin is more effective at reducing acne. Honey also moisturizes the skin without leaving a greasy residue. The anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antibacterial properties of honey may also benefit acne-prone skin.
2. Apply Ice:
Applying ice is another way of treating the acne. It can reduce the redness, inflammation and swelling of pimples. Ice also improves blood circulation in the affected area. Once you take a steam shower, it opens the pores on your skin. Now gently massage the ice on your face. It will tighten up the pores and will remove oil and dirt from skin.
3. Tea Tree Oil:
Tea tree oil which are extracted from the leaves of Melaleuca alternifolia, is excellent for treating acne and pimples. It has antibacterial properties that help fight the bacteria that cause these skin problems. Plus, it also helps dry out blackheads and whiteheads. Tea tree oil is very potent, so always dilute it before applying it to your skin.
4. Aloe Vera:
Aloe Vera is a tropical plant which produces gel. Aloe Vera is being used as a remedy for various skin related diseases for the ancient times. The gel is often added to lotions, creams, ointments and soaps. Aloe vera also contains salicylic acid and sulfur, which are both used extensively in the treatment of acne. You just need to apply the aloe vera gel directly on your skin and leave it for 15 to 30 minutes.
5. Exfoliate the skin:
Exfoliation is believed to improve acne by removing the skin cells that clog up pores. It helps reduce breakouts by keeping the pores from becoming clogged with dead cells and sebum. Regular exfoliation will also smoothen and soften the skin and brighten your skin tone.
