Most of us suffer from the bad breath and in most of the cases, it originates from the gums and teeth. Actually, this bad breath is caused by billions of bacteria present in our mouth. It is the odor that bacteria give off as the bi-product when they digest their food.
Bad breath is quite embarrassing, but there are numerous ways to prevent it. In this article, we are going to discuss five effective tips to cure this embarrassing bad breath.

  1. Brush teeth twice a day:

Keep your mouth clean by brushing twice a day. This will help the removal of plaque and food trapped between your teeth and the gum lines. Otherwise both these areas will provide breeding ground for the bacteria which will ultimately result in bad breath.

  1. Avoid smoking:

You may have heard that smoking is bad for your heart and lungs, but it’s bad for your breath too. Smoking can make your mouth dry and it leaves the unpleasant smell in your mouth which will linger on even after brushing the teeth. So, avoid smoking in order to get rid of bad breath.

  1. Eat celery:

Eating celery can cure your bad breath. Celery is a fiber rich food which increases saliva production in your mouth. Saliva helps wash away food particles which help prevent the plaque. Chewing fresh celery not only aids to cleanse your tongue, but also acts as dental floss between your teeth.

  1. Eat Parsley and Mint:

Parsley has a natural breath freshener property that combats bad breath. Boil a cup of water and add crushed parsley leaves and add some mint leaves in it. Let it cool off for a minute then strain the water. Gargle with the use of this water after each meal.
The chlorophyll in the parsley will absorb the odor of your mouth and mint will provide freshness to your mouth.

  1. Wet your whistle:

A dry mouth can make your breath unbearable. Make sure to drink a sufficient amount of water daily to avoid dry mouth. Drinking water will help keep odor under control because it helps wash away food particles and bacteria, the primary cause of bad breath.
To keep your saliva flowing throughout the day, stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water. You also could stimulate saliva production by sucking on a mint or chewing gum, but these are only temporary solutions.

These are the few ways to prevent yourself from the bad breath. Even if by using these steps your bad breath is not in control, then you should seek the dentist. The professional cleaning process not only removes tartar form the teeth, which if untreated could lead to periodontal disease, but it also can identify any infected areas that need treatment. By getting to the root of the problem, you can ensure fresher breath, too.
